Syilx (Okanagan)/Kelowna, British Columbia – Weed Pool Cannabis Cooperative (the “Cooperative” or “Weed Pool”) announced today it has secured a warehouse in Kelowna to begin distributing cannabis products to independent retail stores across the province. The first-of-its-kind cannabis cooperative in Canada, the Weed Pool is making major investments in its B.C. expansion to ensure service levels match those of its Saskatchewan operations.

“Kelowna was a natural choice to be the base of our B.C. operations due to its central location and rich history in cannabis cultivation,” said Weed Pool CEO, Brett Wells. “We have experienced a warm welcome here and look forward to working with licensed producers and independent retailers across the province.”

The Cooperative has chosen Kelowna-based Connected Supply Chain Solutions (“the Company”) as its trusted logistics partner.

“We are confident that Connected Supply Chain Solutions will fulfill Weed Pool’s commitment to fast and reliable shipping for Cooperative members,” said Wells. “Through our consolidated ordering platform, the Kelowna warehouse serves as a single source of supply for independents.”

Connected Supply Chain Solutions offers comprehensive end-to-end supply chain management for the cannabis industry.

“We are proud to announce our partnership with Weed Pool, which we believe will be of significant value to the cannabis industry,” said the Company’s CEO, Cameron Nicks. “Being in close proximity to many local cannabis producers, our state-of-the-art facilities and advanced technology allow us to streamline the supply chain process and provide efficient and timely services.”

Weed Pool representatives were in Kelowna last weekend speaking with retailers and producers attending the BC Cannabis Summit where the Cooperative was a presenting partner.

The Cooperative saw an opportunity to expand to B.C. after the provincial government’s direct delivery program was launched in August of last year.

“Weed Pool offers an opportunity to take one of the major cost pressures in our sector off the table in a way that creates profits for both producers and retailers,” said the Cooperative’s Business Development Manager for B.C., Ian Dawkins. “Members also benefit from a better selection and prices, annual patronage-style dividends, and a culture of mutual support.”

The Cooperative services more than 90 stores across Saskatchewan, and a growing number in B.C. have already applied to join. Any independent retailer is eligible to be a member. Licensed producers cultivating less than 3,000 kilograms of dried, unpackaged cannabis or its fresh equivalent annually are qualified to supply Weed Pool as per the BCLDB’s Direct Delivery Program.

Weed Pool Cannabis Cooperative is a collective of proudly independent retailers dedicated to delivering the best-in-market products at fair prices for everyone. Together with 90+ stores, the Cooperative has pooled its resources to negotiate a fair price and equal opportunity in the marketplace. In partnership with Western Processing, Weed Pool also provides processing and white-label services to licensed producers. Learn more and inquire at weedpool.coop.
